With the goal of implementation of the MDG-F Programme Culture and Development, UNESCO is providing support to rehabilitation of ten (10) monuments in line with the list of priorities that was developed by the Ministry of Civil Affairs of BH (MOCA) in partnership with the entity ministries of culture. The ceremony was held in premises of the MOCA and agreements were signed by Goran Milojević, Director of the RS Institute for Protection of the Cultural, Historical and Natural Inheritance, Ismar Alagić, Advisor on EU Assistance Funds Access to the Tešanj Mayor, Enes Milak, President of the Society for Protection of the Cultural, Historical and Natural Values of Jajce Municipality and Veseljka Salatić, Director of the Herzegovina Museum. The signing ceremony officially launched the rehabilitation of these monuments:
· Mithras Temple in Jajce,
· Memorial House in Nartional Park Sutjeska in Foča,
· Arceheological locality Detlak in Derventa municipality,
· Herzegovina Museum in Trebinje and
· Eminaga’s House in Tešanj
According to the signed agreements, the rehabilitation of monuments should be complete by the end of year 2010.
Culture for Development is a partnership programme implemented by three United Nations agencies in Bosnia and Herzegovina, namely the UNDP, UNICEF and UNESCO, in close collaboration with the national Ministry of Civil Affairs, the entity Ministries of Culture and Education, as well as other institutions responsible for education and culture in the country. The programme is funded by the Spanish MDG Achievement Fund thematic window for Culture and Development with envisaged co-financing by the Government of Bosnia and Herzegovina.
