Joint activity of UN Programme and USAID 3E project
Primary School “Pazar” in Tuzla Becomes Energy Efficient
The overall value of the joint project financed by all partners exceeds BAM 160.000, according to the Letter of Commitment signed in 2011 between UNDP BiH, USAID 3E project and Tuzla Municipality.
The EMIS is a web application for monitoring and analyzing the energy and water consumption in public buildings, and a valuable tool for the systematic management of energy. This application worth more than 600.000 USD was developed by the UN Development Program in Croatia.
The goal of the project is to improve environment through reduction of greenhouse gasses emission, and to demonstrate that energy efficiency in practice saves both energy and money for end users. The energy consumption data is recorded and then compared to the measurement data from the previous year. The difference in energy used represents the savings achieved through the energy efficiency measures, the actual amount of money saved. Energy efficiency measures are relatively easy to put into effect, and the costs will be recovered in a short period of time.
The UN Programme Environment and Climate Change: “Mainstreaming environmental governance: linking local and national action in BiH” is a three-year programme funded by the Spanish Millennium Development Goals Achievement Fund which is being jointly implemented by five UN Agencies: UNDP, UNV, UNEP, FAO and UNESCO, in partnership with the BiH Ministry of Foreign Trade and Economic Relations, the BiH Ministry of Civil Affairs, the RS Ministry of Civil Engineering and Ecology, the RS Ministry of Agriculture, Forestry and Water-Management, the FBiH Ministry of Ecology and Tourism, the FBiH Ministry of Agriculture, Water-Management and Forestry, the participating municipalities and civil society organizations.
