Programme Management Committee of MDG-F Economic Governance meeting held

December 1, 2010 The first year implementation and beginning of the second yea of implementation of the MDG-F Programme Democratic Economic Governance of Water Access was maked by holding of the Programme Management Committee (PMC) in Sarajevo, chaired by Slobodan Tadić, Programme Manager/Coordinator.

The progress of Programme activities in year one has been presented highlighting achievements:

 

·        Conducted baseline research ‘General overview of the water sector and its human development function in BiH’

·        Established municipal management structure in each partner municipality

·         Conducted situation analysis (socio-economic analysis with accent to access to water)

·         Three infrastructural projects in approximately 500,000 BAM:

·         Bihać - Construction of the water supply network Kulen Vakuf – Martin Brod

·         Kladanj - Reconstruction of water supply network in urban area of Kladanj, and

·        Ustikolina - Project for the reconstruction of secondary water supply network in the Community Filipovici.

·        Established structure for work with school age children through PAR groups and Goal WASH initiative

·         Conducted Capacity assessment of partner municipalities    

 

Annual Work Plan with budgetary implications for the next year has been adopted by the PMC, which officially launched its second year of implementation.

 

The MDG-F Programme Democratic Economic Governance of Water Access is supported through the Millennium Development Goal Fund financed by the Government of Spain, with planned duration of 3 years with an estimated budget of 4,450,000 USD. The Programme is jointly implemented by UNDP and UNICEF in partnership with the BiH Ministry of Foreign Trade and Economic Relations, BiH Ministry of Civil Affairs, the FBiH and RS Ministries of Agriculture, Forestry, and Water Management, the participating municipalities and their associated water utility companies, and civil society organizations.
